PDFs are perfect for documents — but not always for sharing. WhatsApp shows a PDF as a file icon rather than a preview, social platforms don’t accept PDFs in posts, and many forms ask for an image. Converting PDF pages to JPG or PNG solves all of that.

When you’ll want images instead of a PDF

  • Sharing a certificate on LinkedIn, Instagram or WhatsApp Status
  • Inserting a page into a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation
  • Uploading to forms that accept only JPG or PNG
  • Posting a menu, price list or poster that was designed as a PDF
  • Previewing a document quickly in a chat

DPI: how sharp should the image be?

DPI (dots per inch) decides how many pixels each page becomes. An A4 page converts approximately to:

QualityA4 page sizeBest for
96 DPI (screen)about 794 × 1123 pxQuick previews, WhatsApp
150 DPI (high)about 1240 × 1754 pxPresentations, social media, most uses
300 DPI (print)about 2480 × 3508 pxPrinting, small text, zooming in

Higher DPI means sharper images but bigger files. 150 DPI is the sweet spot for most people — clear on phones and laptops, without huge downloads.

For a text-heavy certificate you’ll post online, PNG at 150 DPI looks crisp. For a multi-page scanned document you’ll send on WhatsApp, JPG keeps things light.

Step by step

  1. Open the PDF to JPG tool and choose your PDF.
  2. Pick the format (JPG or PNG) and quality (96, 150 or 300 DPI).
  3. Click Convert — each page appears with its size.
  4. Download the pages you need, or use Download all.

Practical tips

  • Posting a certificate? Crop away white margins after converting so the certificate fills the frame.
  • Need a smaller file? Convert at 150 DPI as JPG, then use an image compressor.
  • Big PDF? Converting hundreds of pages at 300 DPI uses a lot of memory — convert only the pages you need.
  • Need a specific size (like 1080 × 1350 for Instagram)? Resize the image after converting.

Private conversion

Our PDF to JPG tool renders pages using PDF.js — the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs — directly in your browser. Certificates, ID documents and statements are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Will the text in the image be selectable?

No. An image is a picture of the page, so text can't be selected or searched. Keep the original PDF if you need that.

Why is my converted image blurry?

Choose a higher DPI. At 96 DPI small text can look soft when zoomed; 150 or 300 DPI gives sharper results.

Can I convert just one page?

Convert the PDF and download only the page you need, or extract that page first with a split tool.
