How to use the Stock Average Calculator

  1. Enter the quantity and price for each purchase (add rows as needed).
  2. Optionally enter the current market price to see profit or loss.
  3. Use the target section to see how many shares to buy to reach a target average.

Average price formula

Average price = (Q1 × P1 + Q2 × P2 + …) ÷ (Q1 + Q2 + …)

Example: 100 shares at ₹500 and 100 more at ₹400 → average ₹450.

Averaging down: be careful

Buying more of a falling stock lowers your average, but also increases your exposure to a company that may be falling for a reason. Many traders only average down in quality long-term holdings and never in losing short-term trades.
